Project Description

Welcome to HoneyDo: an interactive and collaborative to-do list app to help families get better organized

The Problem

Other to-do list apps aren't meeting users' needs for organizing and sharing tasks within their family or household.

The Solution

A collaborative to-do list app can help household get better organized.

01- Research

User Research

As part of the research process, the team conducted 6 user interviews, 19 surveys, and a competitor analysis. All of this helped us gain insight about the user needs and to understand the user better.

The team wanted to understand the following:

  • Why users did or did not use list items and how they stayed organized.
  • If users felt like they were organized or if they needed help with organization.
  • What users felt they needed to help them and their families stay organized.

The team's preliminary research showed that users want to:

  • Set up recurring lists and tasks.
  • Set priorities.
  • Easily share lists and assign tasks.
  • Receive notifications and alerts.
  • Collaborate with their families and households.
  • Be more organized.
  • Keep family members involved in certain tasks.

04- Testing & Iteration

User Tests

With the first iteration of our prototype, the team performed 4 user tests and recorded the actions required to complete specific tasks in order to understand the applications of HoneyDo in a real life scenario.

User Testing Success Rate

Due to errors made while prototyping, the average success rate of the mid-fidelity prototype was only 56%.

User Testing Insights

Based on the initial user testing, the team learned that the following changes were needed.

Log In/Sign Up Screen

Log In, Sign Up, and Forgot Password were oddly placed and needed to be moved. The social media login buttons took up unnecessary space.

Buttons

Buttons needed to be changed to something more recognizable to users.

Toaster (Pop Up) Notifications

Users want to know that their actions are successful.

List Page

A way to assign tasks, create due dates, and save lists needed to be included.

Summary

After research and testing, the team found that users want an app that is easy to use and helps their family become better organized.

While the team feels that goal was accomplished to a certain degree, we would like to further improve and develop the concept of the HoneyDo app.

Future Developments

Live Collaboration

Real time collaboration on tasks and lists among hive members.

Messaging

In-app communication among hive members.

Prioritization System

Users will be able to assign level of priority to specific tasks.

Location Services

Users will see recommendations based on their location. For example, a user near a grocery store will see their grocery list recommended to them.
